Sand Thoughts
"How precious are your thoughts to me, O God. How vast the sum of them. If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand." - Psalms 139:17,18

David wrote Psalms 139 three thousand years ago. He had no scientific knowledge of the greatness of God. He had no idea that the sun could fit a million earths inside it, nor did he get that the pinpoints of light in the night sky were also a million to a billion times the size of earth, He was clueless that he lived in a galaxy that had 50 million times the number of stars he could see as he gazed upward, nor did he begin to fathom that our star cluster was just one of 100 billion.
David had no idea what-so-ever that there was a code that built him that could be put on his finger and he couldn’t even see it. He knew less than nothing about DNA and He never imagined that the DNA in one human body would stretch to the moon and back over 15,000 times. For the matter, he had no idea how far away the moon even was! It would have taken him over ten years to walk to it if he could. If you would have told him that, He would have thought you had completely lost your mind.
David did not know one single shocking–impossible to grasp reality that we know today of God’s creation. Yet, the infinite God, who loves to reach us in our littleness, reached to him as a shepherd and revealed to him that His thoughts toward him were more than the sands of the earth.
And so it is with us.
God cannot forget anything we think of, anything we are hurt over, or any difficulty we are facing. He knows every detail intimately.
What is needed is not more of us, not more of our effort or more of our shrewdness. What is needed is more connection with the God who will transform all that is in this universe into indescribably better.
The humble and the gentle shall inherit the earth. How much more shall those following close to their God receive the finest God has. Listen for Him. Follow Him, and you’ll never cease to be among the most amazed to ever walk our little dirt home.
"Listen CAREFULLY to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance." - Isaiah 55:2
