The Sun In Its Might
God has designed our lives so we would experience “the surpassing greatness of His power toward those who believe.” – Ephesians 1:19. This is beyond extraordinary. It ties deeply into the reality that God can do exceedingly more than we think.

The sun is 860,000 miles across. That’s a bit on the big side. It would take you three and a half years to zoom around the sun in your car!
A million earths could fit inside the sun. If you ever see big mountains like Everest or K-2, they are exceedingly less than dust particles in comparison to the sun.
The sun’s temperatures soars to 27 million degrees. It converts five million tons of matter into energy each second releasing its power at a near constant rate like a slow burning log in a fireplace.
Five million tons. That is a whooping amount of matter to convert not to smoke but to energy in one second. And it does it second after second, day after day, year after year. This carefully designed nuclear inferno gives remarkable beauty to every beautiful day.
God’s heater lets you and I go outside on a crisp morning in May with just a T-shirt and lets you walk about at night without instantly freezing to death.
We can watch the sun rise in its power sipping warm coffee from beans He created all the while listening to divinely-constructed melodies coming from His birds which He also so thoughtfully gave us. Can you imagine life without birds or mornings without coffee or the earth without light and warmth?
God is light-years beyond our finest ideas of Him. He knew exactly how to build our sun so one milli-second solar burst wouldn’t destroy all life on our little speck of a home. In His wisdom, He gave us a sun with stunning beauty, with the ability to give us the colors we see and with just the right heat and gravity so our earth-home stays warm and in place and doesn’t get slung into the depths of space like a rock from a slingshot.
Psalms 62:5 says, “My soul, wait in silence for God ONLY. For my hope is from Him.” This is important.
God, the Sun-Maker, greatly desires that we would enter more into the fantastic joy of waiting only on Him. He is truly able to do the unthinkable and bring His unexpected surprises and ingenious plans, but we need to have our hope attached to the right means., It needs to be ONLY God. God can use different means, but our hope needs to be aimed at our only true source who is behind every other source.
Let these words become your heart’s resting place, “ONLY GOD”. If one source dries up, let it be ok. You are waiting on the one true source of every good thing. Live in reliance upon the wisdom, power and beauty of God Almighty, knowing that He will certainly show up and do so in very perfect ways.
By seeking that abiding place with Him, His doings in your life will become a grace-giving testimony of “ONLY GOD–only God could pull off what He did in my life–and He can do the same for you.”
As you grow in the manifestation of His sun-creating power, beloved others will also grow in their reliance in the God who formed light. And they will receive His unique wonders which come when that trust is thriving.
“..that all may know, from the rising of the sun to the setting, that there is none but Me; I am the Lord, and there is no other, the One forming light and creating darkness, … I am the Lord who does all these things.” - Isaiah 45:6,7
