Save The Frogs
“When I consider the heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained; what is man that You take thought of him, and the son of man that You care for him?” - Psalms 8:3,4
A SURPRISING DISSECTION

Have you ever tried to dissect a frog for Biology class? I have. But it didn’t exactly turn out like my teacher thought it would.
I hated to dissect things. I was the kind of guy who loved animals. So when Miss Kelly pulled out the frogs that we were to work on, I was not excited at all. But what choice did I have? It was either do it, or fail the class.
With my dissecting tray in hand, I reluctantly trudged to the front of the class to receive my victim. The teacher plopped a limp, grayish-green frog on my tray of sacrifice and I headed for my lab area to begin the operation.
Then the weirdest thing happened. When I pinned one of my frog’s feet down, it wiggled. I stared in amazement. Then it wiggled again! What was going on? I took the froggie up to the teacher and explained my dilemma.
“Oh, just a second,” she said matter-of-factly and strode to the back room with my wiggling friend. A minute later she emerged, limp frog in hand. “He won’t wiggle any more,” she smiled.
“Huh? What did you do?” I asked, wide-eyed.
“I pithed him,” she explained. “When the frogs come to us they are alive, but frozen. I have to inject poison into their brains before you begin. I guess I missed yours.” Boy, did that ruffle my feathers. I returned to my station, and began to open up Mr. Frog. As I worked, a plan emerged.
FREE THE FROGS
Several days later, after class, I watched as Miss Kelly left her classroom. I made sure the coast was clear, then snuck into her unlocked storage room with a large sack. In the corner stood the infamous freezer of sacrifice.
Opening it, I discovered shelves packed full with cold stiff frogs unknowingly waiting for their turn on the tray. I filled my sack then slipped out and made my way to a nearby park. Once there, I found a secluded spot and poured out the frogs onto a sunny creek bank. I watched as a mountain of frogs soaked up the sun’s warming rays.

Soon, legs began to stretch and bodies began to throb. To my great delight, I soon had an ensemble of 200 happy, bouncing, croaking frogs! I felt like a Moses in the making; “Let my froggies go!”
It wasn’t until ten years later and was sub teaching at that very same high school that I found Miss Kelly and told her the whole scoop. We had a good laugh. I offered to pay for them, but she said to forget it.
I know it’s wrong to steal other people’s property, and I wouldn’t do it now, but I have learned a good lesson through it all.
LOADS MORE STARS THAN YOU’D THINK!

God is so vast. The psalmist proclaims in essence, “You made the heavens—why do You bother to think of me? Why do you care?” (from Psalms 8:3 above).
An average galaxy contains over 100 billion stars, each being a million times the size of earth and some a million times larger than that.
With extreme telescopes, astronomers have seen an estimated ten million galaxies in the section of space outlined by the ladle of the Big Dipper! None of these galaxies are visible to the naked eye.
Try to grasp that. Imagine 100 billion stars in the ladle; That’s an enormous amount of stars! Now try to fathom 10 million galaxies of 100 billion stars each in that same area. It’s unbelievable!
LOVED WITH AN EVERLASTING LOVE
The God who made the stars of the universe strongly loves you. In Jeremiah 31:3 God says, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you (to Myself).” No matter what you feel today, this is the rock-solid truth.
Like the frogs were rescued, God reached down and rescued you. He bought you with a price. As a result, you are not your own. (1 Cor. 6:19,20) God doesn’t want your life to be wasted. He wants to give you a life of value, one that is the product of Him fulfilling His carefully thought out plans through you.
A key to fulfilling this is to bring everything in your life to God every day. Spread it all before Him and pray, “Lord I do not want anything in my life but Your best and perfect will. Please remove anything in my life that is not Your desire and reveal to me what I can forgo and what I need to do to fulfill Your desires for me.” Nothing is anything but God’s highest will for you. Continually reach for His best.
